Eleven Malvern Prep students were selected for placement in the 2010 Archdiocesan All-Catholic Chorus, an ensemble comprised of the best student singers from the Philadelphia area’s Catholic parochial and private high schools.
More than 200 students from 20 schools participated in the October 29 auditions, in which the students sang from a standard choral repertoire such as Brahms’ “Wondrous Cool, Thou Woodland Quiet” and were ranked by music teacher judges on their voice quality, musicianship and tonal accuracy.
The Malvern students who earned placement in the chorus are: seniors Steve Borish (Havertown), Bob Brown (West Chester), John Cappelletti (Berwyn), Greg Hilditch (Broomall), Ben Lodi (Downingtown), Wil Marple (East Norriton) and Kevin Quinn (Newtown Square); sophomores Kyle Naser (Havertown), Chris Smart (Malvern) and Chris Tiberi (Cochranville); and freshman Dylan McParland (West Chester).
This year’s All Catholic Chorus concert will be held at Bishop Shanahan High School on February 21, 2010. The guest conductor for the festival will be Dr. Heather Buchanan, associate professor of music at Montclair State University.
